$10-Thousand Worth Of Cattle Die In Crash

Sioux Center, Iowa — $10-thousand worth of cattle were killed Wednesday morning when the semi trailer in which they were being transported overturned near Sioux Center.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says the mishap happened just after 8:15 am on Wednesday, when 65-year-old Joseph Alday of Hospers lost control of the semi he was driving southbound on Eagle Avenue, due to a muddy portion of roadway.  Deputies say the trailer entered the west ditch where it rolled onto its side, killing the cattle.

Authorities say Alday escaped injury in the crash.

The Peterbilt and trailer received an estimated $40-thousand damage.
