Sheldon Police say the boy was taken into custody after allegedly writing a threatening message on a bathroom wall at the high school.  According to authorities, police were notified of the threat by Sheldon Schools administrative staff.

On Saturday, following an investigation into the incident, police arrested a 14-year old Sheldon boy in connection with the threat.

Police say a delinquency petition concerning the child has been filed by the office of the O’Brien County Attorney alleging that he committed the following delinquent acts:  Threat of Terrorism and Criminal Mischief in the 5th Degree.

Sheldon Police remind the public that a delinquency petition is merely an allegation that a child has committed one or more delinquent acts, and that a child who is the subject of a delinquency petition is presumed innocent unless the Iowa Juvenile Court finds that the State of Iowa has proved beyond a reasonable doubt that the child engaged in the alleged delinquent behavior.
