Archer Man Faces Two Sex Abuse Charges

Primghar, Iowa — An Archer man who was charged with Sexual Abuse in the 3rd Degree last month by the Orange City Police Department has been charged with the same offense by the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office.

According to court records, both offenses allegedly happened in May of 2013 when Steven John Landhuis of Archer was 23 years old. The Orange City Police say he allegedly engaged in sexual intercourse with a 14-year old girl at a residence in Orange City. The O’Brien County criminal complaint alleges the same offense with a 14-year-old girl at the O’Brien County Fairgrounds in Primghar.

In Iowa, the crime of Sexual Abuse in the third degree is a Class C felony, and if convicted, Landhuis could face a fine of between $1000 and $10,000 and up to ten years in prison.
