Arrests For Child Endangerment, Drugs

Orange City, Iowa — In the latest from the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office:

On Sunday, June 21, at 12:53 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a report of a disturbance that occurred at a residence, one and one‐half miles northeast of Ireton, IA.

Upon further investigation it was found that Keri Emery, age 24, of Pipestone, MN assaulted a male victim at the residence. Following the assault, Emery requested an ambulance for minor injuries she sustained during the disturbance. Three children were present in the area the assault occurred and were not injured.

Emery was transported by the Ireton Ambulance to the Hawarden Hospital. Upon her release from the hospital, she was arrested for assault and child endangerment.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Hawarden Police Department and Ireton Ambulance.

On Saturday, June 20, at 12:10 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office arrested Juan Cervantes‐Pena, age 33, of Hawarden, IA.

The arrest stemmed from a traffic stop that occurred at the intersection of Highway 10 and 11th Street in Hawarden. Upon further investigation the deputy discovered illegal drugs in Cervantes‐Pena’s possession.

Cervantes‐Pena was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
