Colorado Woman Cited After Her SUV Collides With Semi

Sheldon, Iowa — A Colorado woman was ticketed after her SUV collided with a tractor-trailer rig in Sheldon Monday afternoon.

The Sheldon Police Department says the crash was reported shortly after 1:30 Monday afternoon at the intersection of Park Street (Highway 18) and 4th Avenue in Sheldon.

According to the report, a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by 38-year old Brandolyn Nunley of Holyoke, Colorado, was southbound on 4th Avenue, and had stopped at the stop sign at Park Street, waiting for cross traffic so she could proceed south on 4th Avenue. The report indicates that there was an eastbound semi stopped in the turning lane, waiting to make a left turn onto 4th Avenue. Police say that when Nunley attempted to cross the intersection, her SUV was struck in the passenger side by an eastbound 2002 Peterbilt tractor-trailer rig, driven by 27-year old Raymond Longstreth of Billings, Montana. Police say the impact of the collision spun the jeep, causing it to come to rest facing north.

No injuries were reported in the crash, although Nunley had requested an ambulance to check her out at the scene, saying she had recently had a c-section delivery, and wanted to be looked over.

Officials estimate the damage to Nunley’s Jeep at $5-thousand, with $20-thousand of damage estimated to Longstreth’s semi.

Nunley was reportedly ticketed for No Valid Driver’s License, and Failure To Obey a Stop Sign, and Yield Right Of Way.

Portions of Park Street were reduced to one lane travel for a time, due to the crash.

Sheldon Police were assisted at the scene by the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team, and Sheldon Emergency Management Agency.
