Crash Sends Four To Hospital

Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon woman and three children were taken to the hospital after an accident in Sheldon on Saturday, April 29, 2017.

The Sheldon Police Department reports that about 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, 52-year-old Rhonda Paulsen of Sheldon was driving a 2006 Volvo northbound on Eighth Avenue. Thirty-five-year-old Raeanne Wassenaar of Sheldon was westbound on Sixth Street in a 2009 Kia.

The report says that Paulsen failed to yield and the vehicles collided in the intersection.

The Sheldon Community Ambulance Team took Wassenaar and a 13-year-old passenger in her vehicle to Sanford Sheldon Hospital. Two other children in the vehicle were taken to Sanford by a grandmother. Paulsen didn’t report any injuries.

Paulsen’s Volvo sustained $5000 in damages, and Wassenaar’s Kia sustained $4500 in damages.

Paulsen was charged with failure to yield from a stop sign.
