Doon Man Escapes Injury After Hitting Deer

sioux county sheriff emblemRock Valley, Iowa — A Doon man was uninjured after his pickup struck a deer near Rock Valley on Saturday, April 15th.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that just after 3 pm on Saturday, 24-year-old Kyle Van Veldhuizen of Doon was driving a 2008 Dodge Ram 3500 southbound on Garfield Avenue, four miles northeast of Rock Valley.  According to the report, Van Veldhuizen struck a deer in the roadway.

The Dodge received $8,000 damage.

No injuries were reported.
