Pallina, Iowa — One person was taken to the hospital, and three others complained of injuries but refused treatment, in the aftermath of a 2-vehicle crash east of Paullina Saturday evening.
According to the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened when a 2002 Pontiac, driven by 18-year old Keaton McClaron of Sutherland was southbound on Highway 59. Deputies say McClaron, with his right turn signal activated, pulled into the left turn lane at the intersection of Highway 10, before attempting a right hand turn, from the left turn lane, into the left side of a southbound 1997 Chevrolet Blazer, driven by 57-year old Darlene Morris, of Larrabee.
According to authorities, neither driver was injured in the mishap, but a passenger in the Morris vehicle, 18-year old Rebecca Morris, was transported to the Cherokee Hospital by Paullina Ambulance for treatment of her injureis. Another passenger in the Morris vehicle, Kevin Wayne, of Sutherland complained of injury, but was not taken to the hospital, according to the accident report. In addition, deputies say that two passengers in the McClaron car, Kari Maier of Paullina, and Nyden Thompson of Sutherland both complained of injuries, but were not transported to the hospital.
Damage to McClaron’s car, and Morris’ SUV were each estimated at $2-thousand.
