Hawarden Man Injured After Hitting Embankment

Hawarden, Iowa — A Hawarden man was injured after hitting an embankment near Hawarden on Sunday, October 29th.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that just after 8 pm on Sunday, 64-year-old Ramon Topete‐Becerra of Hawarden was driving a 2007 Chevy Tahoe westbound on 420th Street, six miles northeast of Hawarden. According to the report, Topete-Becerra lost control of his vehicle, entered the south ditch, struck a creek embankment, and came to rest in the creek.

The Tahoe received $15,000 damage.

Topete‐Becerra reported minor injuries and declined further medical attention.
