sheldon police pdSheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon woman struck a light pole in the East Elementary parking lot on Wednesday, March 9th in Sheldon.

The Sheldon Police Department reports that at about 2:59 pm on Wednesday, 35-year-old Jamie Meendering of Sheldon was driving a 2008 Cadillac Escalade southbound in the Middle School north parking lot in Sheldon. According to the report, Meendering reported that she entered the parking lot to pick up her child. As she started to park, she stated that a child ran out in front of her. Meendering swerved to miss the child and struck a light pole in the parking lot.

The Cadillac received $5000 damage.

No injuries were reported.

A Sheldon woman backed into a Sheldon woman’s car on Wednesday, March 9th in Sheldon.

The Sheldon Police Department reports that at about 6:35 pm, 30-year-old Jennifer Wallinga of Sheldon was backing up from an angled parking spot in a 2007 Pontiac Grand Am onto 3rd Avenue. Fifty-seven-year-old Loretta Beldin of Sheldon was driving a 2004 Buick LeSabre northbound on 3rd Avenue. According to the report, there was a large pickup parked to the south of Wallinga as she backed up. Walling was unable to see Beldin and struck the Buick.

The Pontiac received $1200 damage; the Buick received $1800 damage.

No injuries were reported.
