Paullina Teen Taken To Hospital After Accident

Archer, Iowa — A Paullina teen was taken to the hospital after an accident near Archer on Thursday, September 7, 2017.

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 8:10 a.m., 17-year-old Tyler Harper of Paullina was driving a 2010 Chrysler northbound on Nettle Avenue, three and a half miles south of Archer and three miles west.

The report says that Harper heard a bang from the front end and was unable to steer the vehicle effectively after that. The minivan entered the west ditch and went airborne as it entered the adjacent soybean field, according to the report. The sheriff’s office says the side airbag deployed.

The Archer Ambulance took Harper to the Orange City Health System Hospital.

The minivan sustained $4000 in damages, and the soybean field, owned by Darold Boersma sustained about $350 in damages.
