Semi Accident Causes $50,000 In Damage

sioux county sheriff emblemSioux Center, Iowa — A truck driver escaped injury, but about $50,000 in damage was reported in an accident that happened about 9:35 Thursday morning, May 9th, three miles south of Sioux Center.

According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, 50-year old James Broomfield of Hardwick, Minnesota was northbound on Grant Avenue, driving a 1998 International semi-tractor, pulling a livestock trailer loaded with hogs. ¬†Broomfield told deputies that he started backing the truck when the trailer left the roadway, causing the tractor and trailer to overturn.

Damage to the tractor and trailer was estimated at $40,000.  In addition, approximately 55 hogs, valued at $10,000, died in the accident.

The accident was investigated by deputies from the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
