According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, 50-year old James Broomfield of Hardwick, Minnesota was northbound on Grant Avenue, driving a 1998 International semi-tractor, pulling a livestock trailer loaded with hogs. Broomfield told deputies that he started backing the truck when the trailer left the roadway, causing the tractor and trailer to overturn.
Damage to the tractor and trailer was estimated at $40,000. In addition, approximately 55 hogs, valued at $10,000, died in the accident.
The accident was investigated by deputies from the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
