Sioux Center, Iowa — A Sioux Center man’s vehicle was damaged in an accident in Sioux Center on Thursday, July 16th.
The Sioux Center Police Department reports that at about 11:30 PM on Thursday, 20-year-old Ryan Van Beek was driving a 2004 GMC pickup eastbound on 3rd Street Northeast. According to the report, he proceeded to turn southbound onto Highway 75, failed to maintain control, and drove off of the roadway and struck a utility light pole. Van Beek reportedly admitted that he was “hot dogging” by accelerating a bit too much, while his friends sat in the parking lot.
The GMC received $11,000 damage.
No injuries were reported.
