Sioux City Man Taken To Hospital After Alton Crash

Alton, Iowa — A Sioux City man was transported to the hospital in the aftermath of a one-vehicle rollover crash south of Alton early Monday (July 31st).

Sioux County authorities say the crash took place shortly after 1:00 Monday morning, one mile south of Alton on Highway 60.  According to the accident report, 18-year old Phillip Fleming of Sioux City was southbound in a 1991 Ford Ranger pickup when he lost control of the vehicle.  Deputies say the truck entered the north ditch and rolled, pinning Fleming inside, requiring mechanical extrication by the Alton Fire Department.

Authorities say Fleming was transported to the Orange City Hospital by Alton Ambulance for treatment of his injuries.

Damage to Fleming’s Ranger was estimated at $1-thousand.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Alton Fire Department, Alton Ambulance, Orange City Ambulance, and Orange City Police Department.

Deputies say the crash remains under investigation.
