Sioux Falls Woman Arrested After Accident

sioux county sheriff emblemHull, Iowa — A Sioux Falls woman was arrested after an accident near Hull on Sunday, January 3rd.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 7:54 pm, 60-year-old Mary Abrahamson of Rock Rapids was driving a 2005 Buick Lacrosse northbound on Highway 75, four miles southwest of Hull. Twenty-six-year-old Kaysha Nibbelink of Sioux Falls, South Dakota was driving a 2003 Saturn L200 southbound on Highway 75. According to the report, Nibbelink crossed the center of the roadway and struck Abrahamson.

The Buick and Saturn each received $8,000 damage.

No injuries were reported.

The report continues that upon further investigation, deputies suspected that Nibbelink was under the influence of alcohol. Nibbelink was arrested on a charge of third offense operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. She was also cited with a charge of failing to yield half of the roadway, and open container of alcohol in a vehicle.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Hull Fire Department, and the Hull Ambulance crew.

The accident remains under investigation.
