Sioux County authorities say the accident happened shortly after noon Saturday, when a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, driven by 24-year old Brooke Lowin of Sioux Falls, was eastbound on Highway 18, two miles west of Rock Valley. Lowin told deputies she swerved to avoid striking a dead animal on the roadway, and lost control of her pickup, which then entered the south ditch and rolled.
Lowin was transported to Hegg Memorial Health Center in Rock Valley for treatment of her injuries.
Deputies estimated the damage to Lowin’s truck at about $6,000.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Rock Valley Fire Department, Rock Valley Ambulance, and Rock Valley Police Department.
