South Dakota Man Injured in Accident

Sioux Sheriff 84-8 FacebookSioux Center, Iowa — A Blackhawk, South Dakota man was injured in an accident near Sioux Center on Friday, August 26th.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 7:40 am on Friday, 62-year-old Rollis Griffith of Blackhawk, South Dakota was driving a 2015 Jeep Wrangler southbound on Highway 75, three miles north of Sioux Center. Thirty-two-year-old Nathan Koele of Boyden was driving a 2008 Ford F-350 pulling a trailer southbound on Highway 75, behind Griffith. According to the report, Griffith drove onto the west shoulder and then attempted to turn left at 350th Street and was struck by Koele.

The Jeep received $10,000 in damage. The Ford and trailer received $12,000 in damage.

Griffith reported minor injuries and sought medical attention on his own.

Griffith was cited for failure to yield when making a left turn and failure to use seat belt.
