Two Arrested In Separate Cases In Lyon County

Lyon County, Iowa — Two people were arrested in two separate cases in Lyon County recently.

Rock Rapids, Iowa — A Little Rock man was arrested on Thursday, August 17, 2017. The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 7:30 a.m., their Special Response Team arrested 37-year-old Joseph M. Pedersen of Little Rock on two outstanding arrest warrants. They say Pedersen was a passenger in a vehicle in Little Rock when he was taken into custody.

Pedersen’s warrants were for Violation of Conditions of Bond which included seven counts of Dominion/Control of Firearm/Offensive Weapon by a Felon and one count of Child Endangerment. Bail on this warrant was set at $5000 cash only. The second warrant was for Probation Violation on an original charge of Carrying Weapons, with bail set at $2000 cash or surety.

Pedersen was transported to the Lyon County Jail and at last report was being held on these warrants.

Rock Rapids, Iowa — A Sioux Falls man faces felony OWI charges after he was arrested on Friday.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that they received a call about an erratic driver westbound on Iowa Highway 9. A Lyon County Deputy located the vehicle near the intersection of Iowa Highway 9 and Jefferson Avenue, about seven miles east of Rock Rapids. The driver, 70-year-old Gerald Feist of Sioux Falls was allegedly found to be under the influence of alcohol.

The Sheriff’s Office says Feist was placed under arrest and charged with Operating While Intoxicated 3rd offense, a Class D Felony; and excessive speed, 78 miles per hour in a 55-mile-per-hour zone, a simple misdemeanor. The Sheriff’s Office says Feist was transported to the Lyon County Jail on those charges.
