Two Charged With Felony OWI

OWI 2Northwest Iowa — A pair of northwest Iowa men face felony drunk driving charges after being arrested in separate incidents this past weekend.

Saturday, 47-year old Apolinar Rodriguez-Reyes of Hospers was arrested in Sioux County on a warrant stemming from a traffic accident that happened December 18th in Alton.  According to authorities, Rodriguez-Reyes was involved in an accident in front of the 10th Street Pub in Alton.  Officers say they suspected that he was under the influence of alcohol.  They say that, due to his highly intoxicated state, Rodriguez-Reyes was taken to the Orange City Emergency Room for treatment.  Authorities say a specimen of his blood was drawn at that time, and sent to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation lab for chemical testing.  He was then admitted to the hospital for observation.  On Thursday, January 13th, investigators say the lab results came back, and reportedly indicated that Rodriguez-Reyes had been intoxicated at the time of the December accident.  A warrant was then issued for his arrest, and police caught up with him on Saturday, and placed him under arrest on a charge of OWI 3rd and Subsequent Offense, which is a Class D felony.

On Sunday, January 17th, an Osceola County Deputy arrested 26-year old Christopher Marvin Renner of Ashton for allegedly Operating While Intoxicated 3rd Offense, a Class D Felony.  Authorities say the arrest stemmed from the investigation of a vehicle stuck in a snow drift in Ashton.  Authorities say Renner was also charged with Open Container and Failure To Have A Valid Driver’s License.  He was booked into the Osceola County Jail in Sibley on a $5,000 bond, according to authorities.
