Two Injured In Hawarden Crash

Hawarden, Iowa — Two people were injured in a crash near Hawarden Thursday afternoon.

The mishap took place around 3:45 Thursday afternoon at the intersection of 420th and Cherry Avenue, four miles northeast of Hwarden, according to authorities.

Deputies say a 2007 Pontiac G6, driven by 19-year old Alexandria Rejino, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, was westbound on 420th Street, when she failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection with Cherry Avenue, striking a 2013 Chevrolet Suburban, driven by 60-year oldRichard Dirks, of Akron.

Both Dirks and Rejino were taken by Hawarden Ambulance to Hawarden Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, according to authorities.

Deputies say they cited Rejino for failing to obey a stop sign.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Hawarden Ambulance, Hawarden Fire Department, Hawarden Rescue, Hawarden Police Department, and Sioux County Conservation.
