AccidentGeneric 2Sioux Center, Iowa — A Boyden man and an Ashton man were taken to the hospital after a 3-motorcycle accident in Sioux Center.  According to the Sioux Center Police Department, the accident happened around 11 pm Sunday, when motorcycles driven by 21-year old Thomas Hofmeyer of Boyden, 25-year old Lance De Jong of Rock Valley and 24-year old Corey Shearer of Ashton were all northbound on 13th Avenue Southeast in Sioux Center.

According to the report, Hofmeyer’s 2007 Honda quickly approached the other two motorcycles, striking the rear tire of Shearer’s 2008 Suzuki, which caused the Suzuki to go onto its side and enter the east ditch.  Hofmeyer’s bike then struck the rear tire of De Jong’s 2012 Yamaha.  Hofmeyer’s machine continued on, coming to rest in the west ditch.

Hofmeyer and Shearer both sought treatment at Sioux Center Health, according to Sioux Center Police.

Police say they cited Hofmeyer for Following Too Closely and Failure To Have a Valid License.

Estimated damage to the three motorcycles totaled about $13,300.
