Two Taken To Hospital, One Arrested After Accident

Generic Ambulance ecnalubmABoyden, Iowa — Two people were taken to a hospital and one person was arrested after an accident on Saturday in Boyden.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 11:45 p.m., 65-year-old Debra Woelber of Hull was driving a 2013 Ford Explorer southbound on Colfax Street. She stopped for the stop sign at Prairie Street. They report that 26-year-old Kristi Stettnichs of Rock Rapids was driving a 2013 Chrysler 300 southbound on Colfax Street behind Woelber, and that Stettnichs struck Woelber on the roadway.

The Boyden Ambulance took Woelber and a passenger, 67-year-old Kenneth Woelber of Hull to Sanford Sheldon Hospital.

The Ford sustained approximately $4,000 in damage. The Chrysler sustained approximately $7,000 in damage.

Upon further investigation, the deputy suspected that Stettnichs was under the influence of alcohol, and arrested her on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. She was also cited on a charge of following too closely.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that the Boyden Fire Department and Boyden Ambulance Squad assisted them with the response to the accident.
