Two Taken To Sioux Falls Hospital After Rock Valley Crash

Rock Valley, Iowa — A Sioux Falls woman and a Rock Valley man were taken to a Sioux Falls hospital after an accident on Wednesday, July 26th.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that just before 4:20 p.m., 20-year-old Anthon Vonk of Ireton was driving a 2015 Toyota Camry westbound on Highway 18. The report says he stopped for oncoming traffic before attempting a left turn onto Dove Avenue. They say 63-year-old Elizabeth Hagen of Sioux Falls was driving a 2017 Acura MDX eastbound on Highway 18. Twenty-four-year-old Noel Morales of Rock Valley was driving a 2003 Toyota Camry westbound behind Vonk when he struck Vonk, entered the eastbound lane and struck Hagen.

The Rock Valley Ambulance took Morales and Hagen to Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley. They were later transported to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Vonk reported minor injuries and sought medical treatment on his own.

The Sheriff’s Office says the Vonk Toyota sustained about $2,000 in damage. The Morales Toyota sustained about $6,000 in damage. The Hagen Acura sustained about $12,000 in damage.

The Sheriff’s Office says the Rock Valley Fire Department and Rock Valley Ambulance Squad assisted at the scene.

They say the accident remains under investigation.
