Woman Taken To Hospital After Striking Utility Pole

Larchwood, Iowa — A Larchwood woman was taken to a hospital after an accident near Larchwood on Thursday, December 14, 2017.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 7:05 a.m., 39-year-old Hillary Perez of Larchwood was driving a 2001 GMC Yukon southbound on Chestnut Avenue, about a mile and a half north of Larchwood. The report says Perez lost control of her vehicle due to ice on the road. They report that the Yukon entered the west ditch and struck a utility pole owed by Loosbrock Digging Service of Lismore, Minnesota.

The Lyon County Ambulance took Perez to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

The Yukon sustained about $5,000 in damages and the pole received about $800 in damage.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that the Larchwood Fire Department, Larchwood Emergency Medical Service, and the Lyon County Ambulance Squad assisted them with the response to the accident.
