Woman Transported After Sheldon Crash

AccidentGeneric 2Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon woman was taken to the hospital in the aftermath of a 2-vehicle accident in Sheldon Friday morning.

According to Sheldon police, the accident happened shortly before 11 am Friday, when a 2014 Chevrolet Cruise, driven by 20-year old Nicole Woelber of Sheldon was westbound on 8th Street, approaching 7th Avenue.  As Woelber’s car entered the intersection it was struck in the driver’s side by a northbound 2002 Chevy pickup, driven by 19-year old Jacob Faris of Lincoln, Nebraska.

Police say Faris told them he had been unable to stop for Woelber’s car due to icy road conditions.  Faris was reportedly cited for Failure To Yield, since the intersection has posted “Yield” signs for both north and southbound traffic.

Woelber was transported to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center by the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team for treatment of possible injuries.

Damage to Woelber’s car was estimated at about $2800, while damage to Faris’ pickup was estimated to be approximately $2500.

Sheldon Police, Fire, SCAT and EMA were all called out to the scene.
