Community Blood Bank Blood Drive in Sibley

January 24 @ 10:00 am - January 25 @ 5:00 pm

Osceola Community Hospital will host a blood drive on Wednesday, January 24 and Friday, January 26 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm both days.  All blood types are in immediate need to support the local supplies.

“This winter community blood drive will help ensure that blood is available for all types of surgeries, traumas, burn treatment and cancer treatment,” states Ken Versteeg, Executive Director, Community Blood Bank.  “When you donate blood on January 24 or January 26, you are helping local patients in their time of need.  Your donations will make blood readily available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at Osceola Community Hospital.   We encourage new donors as well as those donors that have donated multiple times to give the gift of life.”

Community Blood Bank is a joint cooperative venture of Sanford Medical Center and Avera Health. The Community Blood Bank currently is the sole blood provider to 34 hospitals in eastern South Dakota, northwestern Iowa, and southwestern Minnesota, including Osceola Community Hosptial.   Community Blood Bank is not affiliated with other blood bank organizations and takes pride in being self-sufficient because of the generosity of our local blood donors.

Blood donors must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with a signed parent consent form found at www.cbblifeblood.org) weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good general health.  It is recommended that a person eat and drink plenty of fluid prior to donating blood.  Additional questions regarding blood donations may be answered by calling Community Blood Bank directly at 1-877-877-3070, log onto www.cbblifeblood.org or call Osceola Community Hospital at 754-2574.

Community Blood Bank is accredited by the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), the College of American Pathologist (CAP).
