Snowshoe Class at the Prairie Heritage Center

January 20

After the first few tastes of winter, we know that it has finally arrived.  The O’Brien County Conservation Board is again offering the opportunity to hand craft beautiful snowshoes.

Consider signing up for a snowshoe making class offered by the O’Brien County Conservation Board.  The class will be held at the Prairie Heritage Center on Saturday, January 20.  However, orders for materials MUST be made by Monday, January 8!

There are several models to choose from.  The Expedition Kit (which includes wooden frames) come in three styles – Ojibway, Huron and Bear Paw.  Each kit includes the frame, nylon cording and binding.  The material cost is $150.  Another alternative is the Urban Kit (which includes an aluminum frame).  The material cost for this type is $85.  Once finished the shoes are not only incredibly serviceable but also are an object of beauty.

Please call the Prairie Heritage Center at 712-295-7200 for more information about the class or the different styles.
