Hartley City Council Minutes

March 11, 2013

The Hartley City Council met in regular session Monday, March 11, 2013 at 5:06 p.m. in the Council Chambers. Mayor Clayton Pyle presided with the following Council Members present: Gina Wiekamp, Jerry Olson and Brad Meendering. Others present: Dennis Cmelik, Mike Petersen, Mike Boeve, Patty Anderson, Mark Younie and Chad Ries. Council Members absent: Kevin Snider and Ron Hengeveld.

Olson made the motion, seconded by Wiekamp to adopt the agenda. Motion carried 3-0.
Wiekamp made the motion, seconded by Meendering to approve the consent agenda. Motion carried 3-0.

Mayor Pyle opened the public hearing on the FY 2013-2014 Budget. The Mayor asked for any comments for or against the budget. There were no written or oral comments. The Mayor declared the public hearing closed.

Meendering made the motion to approve Resolution No. 2013-08, “A Resolution Adopting the Annual Budget for the Fiscal Year Ending June 30, 2014”. Seconded by Wiekamp and upon roll call being called: Gina Wiekamp, Jerry Olson and Brad Meendering voted aye. Motion carried 3-0.

Meendering made the motion to approve a 10% funding increase to the Hartley Community Daycare. Seconded by Wiekamp and upon roll call being called: Jerry Olson, Brad Meendering and Gina Wiekamp voted aye. Motion carried 3-0.

There was discussion of whether to allow ATV vehicles on city streets. It was consensus of the City Council not to allow them on city streets.

The Cemetery Chapel Committee asked the city if electricity could be installed to the Chapel. It was a consensus not to install electricity at this time.

Kevin Snider present at 5:25 p.m.

Patty Anderson, City Clerk/Administrator reported she was researching whether the city could realize interest savings from refunding the 2003 Water Revenue Notes at a lower interest rate. She will bring more information back to the Council.

Mike Boeve, Superintendent of Public Works, reported Spring Clean-Up Days are set for April 29th.

Mark Younie, Chief of Police, introduced the new police officer, Chad Ries.

The Mayor declared the regular meeting adjourned at 5:35 p.m.
