O’Brien County Supervisors Meeting

PROCEEDINGS OF O’BRIEN COUNTY SUPERVISORS

January 29, 2013

The Board of Supervisors met as per adjournment in regular session at 9:00 a.m. with all members present.

Moved by DeBoom, seconded by Friedrichsen to reduce the compensation board recommendation of wage increases by 70% for all elected officials for fiscal 2014 except the Supervisors. This sets the increase for Fiscal 2013 as follows: Auditor, Recorder, Sheriff & Treasurer – $1,500 each for the year and the County Attorney – $900. Motion carried by all ayes.

Moved by Friedrichsen, seconded by McDowell to reduce the compensation board recommendation to zero for the county supervisors for Fiscal 2014. Motion carried by all ayes.

Moved by Steensma, seconded by DeBoom to increase the county health insurance premium by $30.00 per month on all policies and the employees will pay $15.00 per month of the increase beginning July 1, 2013. Motion carried by all ayes.

Moved by DeBoom, seconded by McDowell to approve the wage increase for Communications Operator Rebecca Wilson to $20.00 per hour effective December 26, 2012. Motion carried by all ayes.

Moved by Friedrichsen, seconded by Steensma to approve the proceedings of January 22, 2013. Motion carried by all ayes.

Moved by Friedrichsen, seconded by Steensma to reappoint Randy Menke to the Hartley Zoning Board for 2013. Motion carried by all ayes.

Moved by Steensma, seconded by McDowell to approve the claim to Cindy Thompson for janitorial services in January in the amount of $343.00. Motion carried by all ayes.

Moved by DeBoom, seconded by Friedrichsen to have bond council proceed with the Sheldon Fieldcrest Conduit Bond Financing. Motion carried by all ayes.

Moved by Steensma, seconded by DeBoom to approve the underground construction application of Mid American Energy in Section 23, Caledonia Township. Motion carried by all ayes.

Moved by Friedrichsen, seconded by Steensma to approve the IA Dept. of Transportation Federal Aid Agreement for Project STP-S-CO71(65)—5E-71 to resurfacing County Road B-14 (Ritter Road). Motion carried by all ayes.

Moved by DeBoom, seconded by Friedrichsen to accept the quote of Don Pierson Ford for $50,485.00 for 2 2013 Ford F250 Super cab 4 wheel drive pickups. All ayes except Farnsworth who voted nay. Motion carried.

Moved by McDowell, seconded by DeBoom to amend the Fiscal 2013 Secondary Road Construction program. Motion carried by all ayes.

Moved by Steensma, seconded by Friedrichsen to review lumber and rebar quotes on February 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. and to review spray quotes at 10:00 a.m. February 26, 2013. Motion carried by all ayes.

Moved by DeBoom, seconded by McDowell to approve the cost sharing of the Clear program with Cherokee County. Motion carried by all ayes.

Moved by DeBoom, seconded by Friedrichsen to adjourn to February 5, 2013. Motion carried by all ayes.

    Curious what amount of taxes that Don Pierson Ford pays into O’brien county? Seems as if all of our county supervisors except 1 don’t quite understand that concept.

      I agree, I do wonder if they understand who pays thier wage, who’s taxes are used to purchase these things! I’m pretty sure it wasn’t anyone from Don Pierson Ford, nor anyone from outside our county! Hmmmmm, WAKE UP YOU IDIOTS!!!!!

        Well said. I don’t think I would put it any other way then how you just said it. What a bunch of bone heads. I guess we can remember this when they get elected in next time.
