The City Council of Orange City met in regular session pursuant to adjournment at 4:30 o’clock P.M. with Mayor Deb De Haan presiding. Members present were Rod De Boer, Chad Oolman, Steve Roesner, Mick Snieder, and Earl Woudstra. All members voted aye on the following unless otherwise noted.
Approved the minutes of the February 17, 2014 council meeting.
Approved the purchase of a 150 HP pump, making the provisions to possibly add a safety switch in the future, and the recommended cleaning of well and pipe at a total cost of $56,498 for the Southwest Well #3.
Set 4:30 P.M. on March 17, 2013 as the time for a public hearing to consider the final plat and rezoning of Puddle Jumper Trail 6th Addition.
Set 4:30 P.M. on March 17, 2013 as the time for a public hearing to consider the final plat and rezoning of Industrie Centrum 5th Addition.
Approved the third reading of proposed Ordinance No. 775, an ordinance amending the water rates, increasing the rate by 15%. Adopted the ordinance.
Approved the third reading of proposed Ordinance No. 776, an ordinance amending the wastewater rates, increasing the rate by 10%. Adopted the ordinance.
Approved the first reading of proposed Ordinance No. 777, an ordinance establishing street grades for the 2014 Downtown Street Improvements. Waived the second and third readings. Adopted the ordinance.
Approved the City contribution up to $120,000 for the construction of the Stadscentrum building to house the Dutch Street Organ, wooden shoe making equipment, and some historical information on Vogel Paint Company and the Tulip Festival contingent upon 90% of the other funding being met and finding a better approach for visitors touring the building than the Chamber Office personnel driving downtown to open the building once called.
