Alberta Man Hits Railway Bridge

sioux county sheriff emblemHull, IA — An Alberta man’s semi was damaged in an accident on Monday, June 15th, near Hull.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 5:27 pm, 55-year-old Allan Heshka of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada was driving a 2009 Peterbilt semi-tractor pulling and oversized trailer loaded with a Caterpillar Earth Mover on Highway 75, six miles northwest of Hull. According to the report, Heshka struck a BNSF Railway railroad bridge.

No injuries were reported.

The Caterpillar received $2000 damage; the railroad bridge received $200 damage, Highway 75 under the bridge also sustained damages from the accident.

Heshka was cited for violation of height restriction, exceeding lawful width, and violation of weight restrictions for commercial motor vehicles.

The Sheriff’s office was assisted by the Iowa Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Enforcement and Iowa Department of Transportation Highway Department.
