Ashton Man Arrested On Felony OWI Charge In Sheldon

Sheldon, Iowa — An Ashton man has been arrested on a felony drunk driving charge in Sheldon.

According to court records, the Sheldon Police Department says that a 2001 Chevy Suburban, owned by 29-year-old Christopher Renner of Ashton was found parked in the middle of the traveled portion of Seventh Street in Sheldon in the early hours of Friday, March 1st. The officer alleges that Renner was found stumbling along a house in the 400 block of Seventh, trying to hide from the officer. The officer says Renner was arrested and was taken to jail in Primghar.

According to jail records, Renner was charged with Operating While Intoxicated, Third Offense, which is a class D felony. He was also charged with misdemeanor counts of Public Intoxication, Second Offense; Operation Without Ignition Interlock; and Driving While License Suspended.

Jail officials say Renner posted bail through a bonding company and was released later that day.

Renner faces a preliminary hearing on the matter on Tuesday, March 19th, in O’Brien County District Court in Primghar.
