Boyden Shed Destroyed In Fire

Boyden, Iowa– A small shed was destroyed in a fire on Sunday, January 14, 2018 near Boyden.

According to Boyden Fire Chief Chris Starkenburg, about 7:40 a.m., the Boyden Fire Department was called to the report of a shed fire at 3064 Jackson Avenue, three miles west of Boyden near Natural Beauty Growers, and then a mile and a half north.

The chief says the fire department saw the building had burned down and there was lots of smoke as they approached the scene. He says the building had been about the size of a garden shed — about 8 feet by 10 feet. He says they took out all the hot stuff, then extinguished all the embers with water and foam.

Starkenburg says no injuries were reported.

He says the cause of the fire is undetermined.

Chief Starkenburg reports that there was about $1,000 in damage.

He says they used about 2,000 gallons of water to fight the fire, and seven firefighters were on scene for about 45 minutes.
