Cherokee County, Iowa — A freak automobile accident has claimed the life of a Quimby, Iowa woman.
Cherokee County authorities say the mishap took place shortly after 6:00 Sunday evening (December 30, 2018). According to authorities 21-year old Christina Louise Martin of Quimby was westbound on Highway 31, west of Silver Sioux Road, in a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica when a deer entered the roadway. Deputies say the deer jumped, and entered the car through the windshield, causing serious injuries to Martin.
Martin was transported to Cherokee Regional Hospital by Cherokee Regional Ambulance, then airlifted to a Trauma Center, according to the accident report. Authorities say Martin died later as a result of her injuries.
