Cherokee Man Jailed After Rural Sioux County Incident

lightbar with hand cuffsSioux County, Iowa — Authorities have charged a 23-year old Cherokee man in connection with an incident that happened early Wednesday in rural Sioux County.

According to authorities the incident took place northwest of Orange city about 4:00 am Wednesday when Patrick Schwebach is accused of driving a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado in a dangerous manner northbound on Indian Avenue when he was trying to stop a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by a 20-year old Orange City woman.  Deputies say Schwebach passed the woman’s vehicle, then applied his brakes, causing the woman’s car to strike Schwebach’s pickup.  Deputies say Schwebach then approached the woman in a threatening manner before leaving the area.

Damage to the woman’s car was estimated at $2,000, with no damage to Schwebach’s pickup.

Deputies say Schwebach was arrested for assault, reckless driving and harassment.
