Child Taken To Hospital After Accident

Sanborn, Iowa – A Sanborn woman’s child passenger was taken to the hospital after an accident in Sanborn on Wednesday morning.

The Sanborn Police Department reports that about 8:05 AM, a Mercury Mariner, driven by 65-year-old Sandra Brown of Sanborn was entering Highway 18 from a driveway along the highway when her vehicle went under the mid-section of an eastbound 2000 Freightliner semi tractor-trailer driven by 28-year-old Adam Driesen of Sheldon. The accident happened near the intersection of Prospect Street.

The police department reports that the Sanborn Ambulance crew transported a four-year-old passenger in Brown’s Mercury to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center.

They say damage to the Mariner was estimated at $2,200. Damage to the semi was estimated at $6,000.

The police department reports that Brown was cited on a clear vision through windshield violation.

They say the Sanborn Ambulance crew, Sanborn Fire Department, and the Iowa State Patrol assisted at the scene.
