False ID Doesn’t Fool Lyon County Deputy, Leads To Arrest

Rock Rapids, Iowa — An Illinois man who tried to pull the wool over a Lyon County Deputy’s eyes was unsuccessful, and ended up in the Lyon County Jail.

Lyon County authorities say one of their deputies made contact with a male subject Thursday night, west of Rock Rapids on Highway 9. Deputies say the man, later identified as 56-year old Harold Dooley, gave the deputy false identification information in an attempt to avoid arrest on outstanding warrants from the State of Illinois.

Authorities say that, after discovering Dooley’s true identity, the deputy placed him under arrest. Deputies say Dooley faces charges of Providing False Identification Information, A Simple Misdemeanor, and being a Fugitive from Justice, a Class D Felony. In addition, the Deputy also served the Illinois arrest warrants. The original Illinois charges, according to authorities, were for multiple counts of Forgery.

Authorities say Dooley was booked into the Lyon County Jail, on a $25-thousand cash only bond for the Illinois Warrants.
