Five Taken To Hospital After Crash

Alvord, Iowa — Five people were taken to a hospital after an accident near Alvord on Friday.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 10:50 a.m., 33-year-old Mario A. Silva of Hull was driving a 2006 Chrysler Town & County van registered to Teresa Garcia of LeMars. Silva was northbound on Dove Avenue in the 1900 block, which is a mile and a half west of Alvord and two miles north. The Sheriff’s Office says he lost control, causing the vehicle to enter the west ditch, and roll onto its side.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that an adult female and three minor children were also in the vehicle at the time. They say the occupants were all taken to Sanford Rock Rapids Hospital.

Silva was cited on charges of Driving While Suspended, No Valid Driver’s License, and Failure to Maintain Control.

The Sheriff’s Office says that the Lyon County Ambulance and Lester Rescue Squads, and the Alvord Fire department assisted with the response to the accident.
