Granville Woman Injured In Car/Semi Crash

Hospers, Iowa — A Granville woman was injured when her car was struck by a semi-truck in Hospers Thursday evening.

Sioux County authorities say the crash happened shortly after 6:30 Thursday evening when a 2004 Cadillac Deville, driven by 85-year old Nancy Shafer of Granville was westbound on 400th Street.  Deputies say Shafer stopped for the stop sign at the intersection with Highway 60, then pulled into the intersection into the path of a 2007 Peterbilt semi, driven by 60-year old Shawn Munns of Hawarden.

Shafer was taken by Hospers Ambulance to the Orange City Health System Hospital for treatment of her injuries. According to authorities, Shafer was ticketed for Failure to Yield From a Stop Sign.

Deputies estimate damage to Shafer’s Cadillac at $10-thousand, with $6-thousand damage estimated to Munns’ semi.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Hospers Fire Department, Hospers Ambulance, and the Iowa State Patrol.
