Hawarden Woman Faces Felony Child Endangerment Charge

Hawarden, Iowa — A Hawarden woman faces a felony charge after an arrest on Wednesday morning, June 20th.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s office reports that their deputies arrested 33-year-old Vanessa Lopez of Hawarden on two charges, one of them a felony.

They tell us that the arrest was a result of a Sheriff’s Office investigation that began in May 2018.

Deputies believe that Lopez assaulted a juvenile victim at a home near Hawarden. Lopez was charged with assault, a simple misdemeanor; and child endangerment causing bodily injury, a class D felony.

According to jail records, Lopez was released the same day on an unsecured $5,000 bond.
