Lyon County, Iowa — A Sioux Falls resident faces a litany of charges after leading Lyon County deputies on a high-speed chase Tuesday evening.
According to a report from the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 8:00 Tuesday evening, a Lyon County Deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop for a speeding violation in the 3900 block of Highway 9. Authorities say the vehicle failed to stop and accelerated, leading Lyon County deputies on a pursuit.
Authorities say a Lyon County Deputy was able to successfully deploy stop sticks near the intersection of Highway 9 and County Road K52 on the east edge of Rock Rapids before the pursuit was terminated. Several hours later, the suspect and vehicle were located. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
Deputies say 20-year-old Shaye Horacek, of Sioux Falls was arrested and charged with Eluding, Trespassing, Reckless Driving, two counts of driving 100 mph in a 55 zone, two counts of driving 100 mph in a 45 zone, two counts of driving 100 mph in a 35 zone, driving 100 mph in a 25 zone, Dark Window or Windshield, and Defective or Unauthorized Muffler System.
Horacek was reportedly transported to the Lyon County Jail on the charges and was later released on a $2,600 cash bond.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Trackside Towing.
