Inwood Man Taken To Hospital, Arrested After Collision

Rock Valley, Iowa — An Inwood man was taken to a hospital and was then arrested after an accident on Thursday, December 20th.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 4:15 p.m., 63-year-old Joseph Lloyd of Inwood was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox eastbound on 300th Street, seven miles west of Rock Valley, when he lost control of the vehicle, which struck a mailbox and entered the south ditch. The vehicle came to rest on its side. The Sheriff’s Office reports that Lloyd became trapped in the vehicle and was extricated by members of the Rock Valley Fire Department.

The Rock Valley Ambulance took Lloyd to the Hegg Health Center Hospital in Rock Valley.

The Chevrolet sustained approximately $10,000 in damage.

The Sheriff’s Office says that upon further investigation, the deputy suspected that Lloyd was under the influence of alcohol. When he was released from medical care, Lloyd was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

The Sheriff’s Office says the Rock Valley Police Department, Rock Valley Fire Department, and the Rock Valley Ambulance crew assisted with the response to the crash.
