Ireton Area Crash Sends Two To Hospital

Ireton, Iowa — Both drivers were injured in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 10 and Eagle Avenue, two miles north of Ireton, Tuesday afternoon.

Sioux County authorities say a 2012 Dodge Durango, driven by 30-year old Adriana Lopez, of Hawarden, was eastbound on Highway 10 and stopped for oncoming traffic before attempting a left turn, when her SUV was rear-ended by an eastbound 2004 Buick Encore, driven by 62-year old Michael Albers, of Alton.

Deputies say Lopez was transported to the Hawarden Hospital by Hawarden Ambulance, and Albers was taken to the Sioux Center Hospital by Ireton Ambulance.

According to authorities, Lopez was cited for Operating a Motor Vehicle without a Driver’s License, and Albers was cited for Following Too Close. Damage to each vehicle was estimated at approximately $10-thousand.

Sioux County deputies were assisted at the scene by the Ireton Fire Department, Ireton Ambulance, and Hawarden Ambulance.
