Lane Change Leads To Accident

Sioux Sheriff 84-8 FacebookSheldon, Iowa — The Sioux County Sheriff’s Department investigated a two vehicle accident south of Sheldon on Friday, October 2nd.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 12:03 pm on Friday, 41-year-old Russell Marking of Grenada, Minnesota was driving a 2008 GMC pickup southbound on Highway 60 in the left lane, half a mile south of Sheldon. Twenty-two-year-old Karla Gamez-Alvarez of Sibley was driving a 2003 Ford F250 pulling a Big Tex dump trailer southbound on Highway 60 in the right lane. The report states that Gamez-Alvarez attempted to change lanes as Marking passed her and struck the GMC.

The GMC received $3000 damage. The Ford received $1000 damage.

No injuries were reported.

Gamez-Alvarez was cited for improper lane change.
