Larchwood Fire Department Responds To Combine Fire Call

Larchwood, Iowa — If we have to have combine fires, this one was probably the best kind to have. The Larchwood Fire Department was called for a combine fire on Friday, October 19, 2018, near Larchwood.

According to Larchwood Fire Chief Damon Langenhorst, about 4:25 p.m., firefighters were called to the report of a combine fire in the field in the 1100 Block of Ashley Avenue, which is one mile west and one mile south of Grand Falls Casino.

The chief says when the fire department got there, the farmer already had the fire put out.

Langenhorst says no injuries were reported.

He says the farmer told him the cause of the fire appeared to have been “hot beans”. No other cause was determined.

Chief Langenhorst reports that there was no damage to the combine. In fact, as the firefighters left, the farmer went back to harvesting with the combine.

He says crews were only on scene for a few minutes.
