Matlock Man Arrested On Warrants Charging 8 Felony Counts

Sheldon, Iowa — A Matlock man was jailed early yesterday on eight felony counts arising from incidents this past summer in Sheldon.

Sheldon Police say Robert Lee Moriston of Matlock is accused of  passing three forged checks totaling $709.17 at the Sheldon Hy-Vee on June 25th, and July 10th of this year, as well as passing an additional three forged checks totaling $379.31 at Stammer Liquor in Sheldon on July 12th and 13th of 2017.

In addition, police say Moriston is accused of Theft in the 2nd Degree for using the forged checks to purchase the $1,088.48 in merchandise from Hy-Vee and Stammer Liquor.

Sheldon Police Chief Lyle Bolkema says Moriston is also accused of the Theft of a Lottery Ticket, since he allegedly purchased a lottery ticket with one of the allegedly forged checks.

All eight charges are Class D Felonies.
