Maurice Woman Taken To Hospital After Accident

Sioux Center, Iowa– A Maurice woman was taken to the hospital after an accident near Maurice.

The Iowa State Patrol reports that about 6:15 p.m on Thursday, November 8, 2018, 42-year-old Armando Segoviano Valdivia of Maurice was driving a 2004 Ford SUV southbound on Highway 75, on the bridge on Highway 75 north of the Million Dollar Corner (Highway 10). They say that 54-year-old Marlys Lenters of Maurice was northbound on 75 in a 2016 Ford.

The report says that as Segoviano Valdivia approached the bridge just north of Highway 10, he lost traction on the icy road and his SUV slid sideways, crossing the center line. Lenters’ car collided with the SUV. Segoviano Valdivia’s SUV came to rest in the center of the bridge facing north. Lenters’ car came to rest in the northbound lane facing west.

The Sioux Center Ambulance took Lenters to the Sioux Center Health Hospital.

Segoviano Valdivia’s Ford SUV sustained about $8000 in damages, and Lenters’ Ford sustained about $10,000 in damages. Both vehicles were considered totaled.

Segoviano Valdivia was charged with failure to maintain control and driving while denied, suspended, canceled, or revoked.
