Primghar Man Arrested On Felony Drug Possession

Primghar, Iowa — A Primghar man has been arrested on felony drug possession charges, as well as OWI after a traffic stop of a 4-wheeler in Primghar on Sunday.

According to court records, an O’Brien County Deputy arrested 32-year-old David Schmidt on Sunday on North McCormack Avenue in Primghar. The officer’s notes say that Schmidt was driving a green Polaris 4-wheeler at the time. He was charged with Third Offense Possession of a Controlled Substance. In this case, the officer says it was a small bag containing methamphetamine. The crime is a class D felony in Iowa.

Schmidt was also charged with misdemeanor counts of Operating While Intoxicated and Operating While License Revoked.

Court records indicate that Schmidt was released the next day after posting bond. He faces a preliminary hearing in the case on Tuesday, April 23rd.
