Rock Valley Man Faces Felony Charge After Crash

Rock Valley, Iowa — A Rock Valley man faces a felony OWI charge after a crash early on Thursday, September 20th in Rock Valley.

According to the Rock Valley Police Department, the call started with the report of a hit-and-run crash at 1704 Thirteenth Street in central Rock Valley. Police Chief Monte Warburton says a vehicle was struck by another, which left the scene. No injuries were reported.

He says officers were able to locate the vehicle and the alleged driver, 24-year-old Jacob Daniel Soodsma, of Rock Valley. Soodsma was charged with third-offense operating while intoxicated, a class D felony; and misdemeanor counts of windshield/window violation, failure to maintain control, leaving the scene of an accident, and violation of restricted license.

Soodsma was transported to the Sioux County Jail in Orange City. He was released at 1:23 p.m. on Thursday after posting bond, according to Chief Warburton.
