Sanborn Man Faces Felony Gun Charge

Everly, Iowa — A 44-year old Sanborn man faces a felony gun charge after his arrest by Clay County deputies earlier this week.

According to a report from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, 44-year old Brady Griffin of Sanborn was arrested near Everly after a routine warrant check showed an active warrant for his arrest.

During the arrest, deputies say Griffin was discovered to be in possession of a handgun. According to authorities, Griffin isn’t allowed to possess a firearm due to a previous domestic abuse assault conviction, and there was an active protection order in place. As a result, authorities reportedly charged Griffin with Dominion or Control of a Firearm as a Domestic Abuser, which is a Class D Felony.
